Dupe alert: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer vs Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Left: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Custard) / Right: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (15)

Today, I'd like to give you my honest thoughts about two concealers that have been gaining serious hype on YouTube and other online beauty communities: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.
My dark circles weren't too bad before, thus I never felt need for a high coverage concealer. But after having a baby, I don't get enough sleep anymore, hence can't get enough of concealers. I was searching for a good concealer and of course, my first choice was Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer which have been super-popular over the past couple of years. It's definitely one of the cult beauty products raved by many online beauty gurus such as Anna from the Anna Edit, Lily Pebbles and KatheleenLights. I got mine in shade called Custard (or Medium 1) which I thought a good match for my skin tone. The shop assistant at Space NK also recommended so I never questioned. I've been using this concealer for the past six months so it's fair to say that I know what I am talking about (I hope!).

There is no doubt about the fact that I like this concealer because it:

  • is highly pigmented which means I need a very small amount of product to conceal my dark circles;
  • has a very lightweight texture, so doesn't crease under my eye; and
  • has a buildable coverage, thus can be used for blemishes and other imperfections.
However, there are two downsides.
Firstly, it's totally my fault but I think I got the wrong shade. While custard is probably one of the most popular shades amongst online reviews, I came to conclusion that it's too dark to brighten my under-eye area. I usually go for a shade lighter than my actual skin tone because it offers an extra brightening effect that I like. Of course you can't use the same concealer on blemishes because it will highlight rather than obscure them.

Secondly, its price tag: £22.50 / 6ml. If you think about high street concealers which are equally good but only cost £5-8, you do question the price tag of this concealer.

Considering both pros and cons of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is definitely the winner for me. I have shade 15 which is the lightest you can get in the UK market and it's perfect for my under-eye and other parts of my face where I want to highlight. It only costs £5.99 / 6.8ml- it's not only cheaper than Nars one but also still £2 cheaper than Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer (£7.99 / 6.8ml) that is another cult classic. The texture is a little thinner than Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, but I still think it's a brilliant concealer that is highly pigmented and has a decent buildability. The downside of Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is lack of shades which is common amongst high street brands, but I guess you can't win 'em all. :-(

I might try Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in lighter shade, probably vanilla, in the future but for now, I am really happy that I got both Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in custard as I can use the former for my under-eye area and the latter for blemishes.

Thanks for reading.
