A holy grail foundation: MUFE Face & Body

If you are living in the UK, you must be equally frustrated about NOT being able to get Make Up For Ever products for a looooooong time. The wait is now over and you can get them from Debenhams' website! :-D As there was 10% off for al foundation on the website, I decided to go for one of the cult product: MUFE Face & Body foundation.

Originally I considered getting a HD foundation but since it is currently reformulated and NOT YET released in the UK, I thought I might as well wait until the new formula comes out. After my all time favourite, Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation ran out, I've been hunting for a foundation for almost 3-4 months. I heard a lot about many good foundations but nothing really jumped out until I watched an old YouTube video made by Fleurdeforce. When it comes to foundation, I really like to hear her opinion because she and I not only seem to have a similar taste but also have the same shade. It's almost unbelievable in regard to my ethnicity, but it is true!

Shade
Before finalising the order, of course, I did a little more digging here and there in order to make sure the shade is correct. I found that both 20 (Ivory) and 32 (Alabaster Beige) were a potentially good match for me. In the end, I decided to go for 32 (Alabaster Beige) which was what Fleurdeforce wears and I am glad that I got this shade. It is a good match for my summer skin. While it may be a little too dark for my normal (winter) skin, I think I can easily get away because it has such a sheer coverage. If you are curious about my foundation shades, click here.

Also bizarrely, South Korean girls seem to have a tendency to go for 38 (Pink Porcelain) OR 20 (Ivory) and this was a particular reason why I avoided both because South Korean girls usually like to go for a couple of shades lighter than their actual skin tone (for a brightening effect). Personally, this is a big no no because I like natural base makeup AND my eyes are quite watery. I remember when I first wore Tony Moly's BCDation All Master, I was unaware of the fact that I had two very clear lines starting from both of my eyes down to my chin; not very attractive.

Texture
The texture of this foundation is very different from any other foundations I've tried in the past. I was told that it has a gel consistency but this wasn't my first impression. I shook it very well (as I am used to with my other foundations) but the first few pumps were two completely separated liquid substances: foundation + a clear liquid (perhaps water as this foundation is made up of 80% water). I wasn't sure if it were a faulty product or if I didn't shake it enough or I just don't understand what other people might describe as 'gel' (to me, it is a liquid).

It's been almost two weeks since I got this foundation and I am finally getting at what people were saying. I probably used the foundation about 10 times until now (I use about 1 1/2 pumps each time) and the foundation finally seems to have the right consistency. When dispensed, it is no longer separated and it DOES resemble a hair-gel like consistency, only tad bit thinner.

I do enjoy the texture and consistency of this foundation. It blends out seamlessly and because of this, even if the foundation shade is not a perfect match, you wouldn't really be able to tell.

Coverage
The coverage of this foundation is definitely sheer to light. People say you can build up to medium but I think it's definitely not the one for those of you who are looking for a good coverage foundation, like Estee Lauder Double Wear or Hourglass Immaculate liquid powder foundation. Personally, I find that this is even lighter than Giorgio Armani Maestro or at least, it feels like it because while Maestro's velvety finish blurs some imperfections out, MUFE Face & Body has a dewy, almost skin-like finish. Don't worry though. This foundation is still very amazing in terms of evening out skin tone AND blurring out imperfections. I am not sure how it does but it REALLY does make your skin look so much better than before applying the foundation BUT you still look like you aren't wearing ANY foundation. Isn't this amazing?

Longevity
Since I purchased this foundation, the weather hasn't been very hot. You know Scottish summer. With this being said, the foundation AND other face makeup on the top of it (including concealer blush and bronzer) seems to stay put very well for 8-10 hours. I did set the foundation and concealer with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder as well as Skindinavia Oil Control Makeup Finishing Spray as I usually do.

The foundation claims to be water-resistant and I do agree with it. I wore the foundation twice during my workout sessions and it did hold pretty well.

Price
On Debenhams website, it is currently sold at £27.00. The price itself is ranked at a higher end, BUT the foundation comes in 50ml which is a very generous amount of product, given the fact that other foundation usually comes in 30ml.

Overall, I am in love with this foundation. It is one of my 3 holy grail foundations along with Giorgio Armani Maestro and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Have you tried MUFE Face & Body yet?
