'YouTube Made Me Buy' #1: BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop
I finally did it! The other day, I received an e-mail from Space NK saying my N.Dulge points are about to expire. You know what this means: I have to (yes, have to) shop. Plus, Space NK was (and is still) doing an online only promotion of £15 off when you spend £60. I usually stock up my holy grail products with my N.Dulge points such as Beauty Blender, Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil, etc. but this time, I decided to make a naughty purchase: BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop.

In my opinion, BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop is by far one of the most hyped products on YouTube and amongst other online beauty communities. I admit that I used to be one of those girls who pre-order products and while some were good, others gave me lots of disappointing moments. So these days, I am more careful about what I buy; at least, I wait until I hear other people's opinions.

Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (i.e. powders) are one of cult-classic products and surprisingly, I don't own any of them(!).  I do own Shimmering Skin Perfector (which is in a bottle) in Opal and Moonstone and both of them are very nice. I used to like subtle highlighters, thus preferred cream products to powders but I admit that after trying out Champagne Pop, I am definitely converted. ;-)

First of all, I love the packaging that it comes with. It is a good reflection of what's inside: apricot-gold highlighter. At the back, it has a personal message from Jaclyn Hill herself which is quite sweet.

The product itself is in a typical Becca powder case which I like a lot. There is a big mirror inside and it contains a whopping 8g of ah-mazing warm, champagne-gold highlighter. It is definitely one of the most intense highlighters in the market so if you want a subtle glow, this isn't a highlighter for you. However, if you are looking for a highlighter which provides an instant brightness and structure to your face, you will love Champagne Pop.

The formula does include ingredients that concern me a little. To name a few, talc, petrolatum and silica. Personally, my skin isn't too sensitive towards these ingredients but I hate using products which contain silica everyday because it clogs my pores. I know that I am going to use this quite sparingly as it is a highlighter but it will be one of those products that I will always keep on eye on, making sure it's not breaking me out.

Just in case you are curious, here is a list of ingredients of BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop:

Talc, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isostearyl Alcohol, Petrolatum, Silica, Boron Nitride, Nylon-12, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Paraffin, Microcrystalline Wax (Cera Microcristallina), Polyethylene, Magnesium Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Acrylates Copolymer, Tin Oxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Chlorphenesin. May Contain [+/-]: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Carmine (CI 75470), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Bronze Powder (CI 77400), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Aluminum Powder (CI 77000), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090)

With this being said though, I still like this highlighter a lot. It's on par with my all-time favourite highlighter, the Balm Mary-Lou Manizer which is equally intense but little lighter than Champagne Pop. Both of them have a similar buttery texture which make them glide upon my skin very well. There is absolutely zero chalkiness when it comes to these two powders so I really like them both. However, Becca Champagne Pop (£32 / 8g) is almost double of the price of the Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (£17.50 on FeelUnique website or £16 on LookFantastic website / 8.5g), so the choice is down to you. For me, it is a nice addition to my highlighter collection as I think Becca Champagne Pop will be perfect for summer months and Mary-Lou Manizer for winter months. Plus, remember these highlighters make the perfect eyeshadows for inner corners so the possibilities are endless! :-D

Overall, I am happy with my purchase and it's already made into my everyday makeup bag. Have you tried Becca Champagne Pop? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading.

Love,
Kyra xxx
