This is my very first blogpost and I wanted to write about something special but mundane enough for everyone's pocket. This is my review of Lush's shampoo bar: Karma komba.
First of all, I want to explain about my hair type. My original hair is very dark brown; almost black. My hair is normal apart from the fact that since when I was young, my hair has been always suffer from spilt ends. Because of this, I enjoy thick hair treatment rather than regular conditioner and haven't really put much thought into shampoo until I began colouring my hair as light brown since a few years ago.
When it comes to shampoo, frankly speaking, my opinion used to be something like body wash: as long as it smells nice, I don't care. Over the years, I've never been loyal to any shampoo brands/products, except for Pro:Voke Touch of Silver (Twice a week brightening shampoo) which I need in order to keep brassy tones away from my coloured hair.
Recently, I came across all kinds of hair drama from unruly hair and split ends, to "really" itching scalp. The other day, as usual, I dropped by Lush to get my monthly stock of bath bombs and bubble bath. I was feeling extra spendy that day (ouch!), so I decided to take a look at hair section which I've ever been to. I was introduced to Karma komba by the sales assistant and instantly, I felt in love with the design (Roman chamomile flowers), the scent (refreshing yet very calming) and the colour (green is my favourite colour!).
Lush says:
This naked shampoo bar gently cleans your hair, while a luxurious blend of fine essential oils including lemongrass, sweet orange, lavandin, pine and patchouli scent your tresses. Elemi oil balances the scalp, keeping it clean and clear. As you can tell, I was perfectly sold right away. I came home that day and tried it right away. Since then, I tried Karma komba four times in the past two weeks and I am comfortable enough to conclude my verdict on it, which is:
It works!
Honestly, I can't be happier. My hair feels very light and clean, yet nourished from top to bottom. I haven't experienced itchy scalp either. Plus, it somehow extends hair styles a lot longer that my curls are still bouncy on the third day! This is really a miracle given the fact that I work out everyday so usually, after the second day, I have to wash my hair because: either my curls are gone crazy (or barely there) or my hair is just too greasy. Besides, this makes the entire bathroom smells really lovely along with my own hair and even my boyfriend likes it! You only need a tiny bit; it lathers up so well and I have a feeling that it will last a few months (which means it's economical, too!).
I would definitely recommend this shampoo bar for anyone who is looking for a basic shampoo but does miscellaneous miracles including getting rid of itchy scalp and keep it clean and clear, yet nourishing benefits from various natural oils. Unfortunately, this isn't a sulphate-free shampoo. Indeed, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is one of its key ingredients alongside Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Perfume, Patchouli Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Lavendin Oil, Pine Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Elemi Oil, Gardenia Extract, Citral, Geraniol, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool, Colour 42090, Colour 19140, Roman Chamomile Flowers. But for me, Karma komba is as gentle as other sulphate-free shampoos, or better than most of them. Personally, I found many sulphate-free shampoos hard to use because they just don't lather up. I end up using a lot of it because I am not sure if I spread the product all over!
You can get Karma komba at Lush's website at RRP £5.75/55g.
Have you ever used Karma komba before? What are your thoughts?
