What I got for my boyfriend

April 5th is a very important day at my house: it's Mike's birthday!
Every year, mooooonths before, I get worried about what I should get for his birthday. I want to impress him but doing so isn't always easy when you've been with each other for a long time.
Here is a couple of things that I prepared for him this year. Hopefully it gives some of you who are going through the same experience as me a month ago a brilliant idea which will make both you and your partner happy...

1. Personalised card
I am one of those people who think card is one of the most precious gifts of all. It doesn't take much time nor does it cost a lot of money. Yet, those few words always manage to move us. I got mine personalised at moonpig.com. There are couple of similar services out there but I like moonpig.com most because they are always on time. Besides I get to save 20% with prepay. I love this card so much because it has a little jumping "polar bear" on it which is a nickname that I gave to my boyfriend. ;-)

2. Personalised m&ms
Honestly, it doesn't get better than personalised little m&m chocolate for boys! First of all, it's edible; for boys, it means "practical". Second, it's super cute! Who can say no to m&ms which has your face and name on it? Last but not least, it comes in this wicked box which makes you giggle (hee heeh)!

This is the 2nd time that I get these bad boys. First time was an absolute hit; they were especially popular with my bf's mates. Some of them even stole a few and gave to their kids!

One thing you need to remember: ittakes 5-7 working days for these babies arrive, so you need to make sure you plan this ahead. You can order personalised m&ms at their website

3. Ralph Lauren Polo shirt
My boyfriend loves polo shirts from Ralph Lauren (regular fit). He already owns 3 shirts but they are getting old so I decided to get a brand new one for his birthday. While surfing on internet, I found a limited edition one which has a little polo bear on it! How cute!!! There are different colours available (each with a different polo bear) but I decided to get a black one because the other 3 that my boyfriend already owns are quite colourful: yellow, light pink and bright orange. I thought black is a nice addition to what he already owns and goes well with everything including Superdry cargo shorts he wears practically everyday in summer.

I ordered the shirt directly from Ralph Lauren's website because there was a limited offer: £66 (RRP: £110). It came in a very exclusive gift box (picture below) with a personalised message that I requested when making an order. Both of my boyfriend and I were very impressed with the quality of the packaging and postage. This reminded me of a saying "you pay for the experience".

4. Little treat made by me

There is really nothing very special about this (because I am usually the one who cooks in this household) but we all enjoy sitting down comfortably and eating the food that we didn't have to cook. I loooooove cooking so this wasn't a huge deal for me but I made sure that I have all the ingredients ready a day before. For me, colour is important for my food. Besides it's pretty for eyes, different colours of food come with different nutritional benefits so it's really good for both inside and outside.

On lazy Sundays, my boyfriend and I enjoy having omelet (usually with some kind of cured meat like chorizo, a range of vegetables like onions, courgette, carrots, mushrooms and herbs) with multi-grain bread (or bagels in this case) as well as salad (avocado and tomatoes). Pair it with a nice cuppa coffee and your Sunday morning doesn't get better!

Concluding remarks:
So far, my preparation has been very successful and my boyfriend is a happy bunny. :-D
What are your experience of boyfriend's (or girlfriend's) birthday present? Let me know because I'd love to know for my boyfriend's next year, very special 40th birthday present!

Thanks for reading x
