Empty product #2: Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation

Oh, dear...

I can't believe the day has finally come. For the very first time, I actually managed to use up an entire bottle of foundation! Yes, I am talking about my beloved Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation.

Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion foundation (shade 4.5)

As you can tell from the state of the bottle seen in the photo above, it's been a while since the Maestro Fusion foundation came to my life. But, I vividly remember the day that I got the foundation. About two and a half years ago, I did quite a bit of research into a good, light-weight and buildable foundation for combination skin for weeks before and after seeing impressing reviews on Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, I finally made up my mind. Next day, I went to Giorgio Armani counter at Havey Nichols and yes, you guessed it right: the result of this trip was quite different from what I planned: Maestro Fusion foundation.

What impressed me most was:

 its velvety texture and blendability.

There are many similar formula foundations available in the market right now (e.g. Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation, Loreal Paris Nude Magique, Lancome Teint Miracle and YSL Fusion Ink foundation) but back then, this was THE ONE in only. Before the Maestro Fusion, matt or velvety foundation wasn't my thing. I like wearing foundation on a everyday basis but I hate wearing heavy, full-coverage foundation because I like "realistic" skin.

When it comes to foundation, like any other categories of makeup products, I have high, slightly unrealistic expectations. In my dream world, I want a foundation which offers:
-perfect colour match;
-"ultra" light-weight, undetectable finish;
-buildable coverage for extra special days;
-excellent blend ability;
-longevity (approx. 8-10 hours); and
-skincare benefits.

I think until I encounter the Maestro Fusion, I thought ticking all these boxes was impossible but hey, I finally found my ultimate dream foundation. 4.5 was a new addition to other already existing shades, formulated especially for Asian (yellow) skin tone and it's a perfect match. In addition, the Maestro Fusion comes in a very handy glass bottle with a dropper which is perfect for the formula of this foundation. If you have used/seen high street versions of this foundation, i.e. Maybelline or Loreal, you know what I am talking about. There is nothing more messier than a no-dropper packaging for this foundation formula. Plus, I think the dropper is crucial for a hygienic application.

Another advantage of the foundation is its low maintenance when it comes to makeup brushes. Basically, the formula is so light that you don't need a brush. At the end of the day, one less brush to wash: a definite yes for me. ;-)

It's been almost two and a half years since my purchase and I am happy to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the Maestro Fusion. I would definitely re-purchase it and would recommend to anyone with combination/oily skin, looking for a new foundation. If you have a dry skin however, it's best to stay away from this foundation because it will cling onto every single dry patch you have (one of its main ingredients is alcohol). Since my purchase, the price seems to gone up a lot (depending on where you buy, it's RRP £40 or £39.50) but for me, it is worth every penny. Besides, you only need a couple of drops which means that the foundation WILL last: i.e. it's cost-effective, too!

Have you tried the Maestro Fusion foundation? What are your thoughts?

Kyra x
