Nars Tahiti Laguna Bronzing Powder

Hello there!

If you are getting ready for summer-perfect skin/makeup, you know bronzer is quintessential. Some of my all-time favourites include Chanel Soileil Tan de Chanel Bronze Universel, Benefit Hoola Bronzer Powder and Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder. I have been relatively happy with what I've got so it's been a while since the last time that I shopped a bronzer (almost two years!) and the timing couldn't be more perfect. My Chanel Bronze Universel was getting a bit minging (so I threw it away) and the rest of the powder-based products are running extremely low. Yes, it's time to discover a new favourite and Nars has just brought about Tahiti Laguna Bronzing Powder.

Nars Tahiti Laguna Bronzing Powder

I made my purchase on SpaceNK's website. While it says Tahiti Laguna Bronzing Powder is exclusive to SpaceNK (online only), you can also purchase this product both on Nars' own website (with a reduced price of £35), Selfridges and House of Fraser. I made my decision relatively easily; I had a £10 off voucher code as well as £5 N.dulge points at SpaceNK website so I went ahead.

This was actually my first time that I made an online purchase on SpaceNK and whilst my review of the product (as you will see soon) is good, the review of the actual experience of the purchase wasn't the best. Despite the fact that I chose click&collect service (which usually takes 2-3 working days on other retailers' website such as John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Fraser), it took almost 10 days so I wasn't very impressed. At least though, the order arrived safely that nothing inside was broken and of course, as of any other purchase at SpaceNK, you get a couple of samples.

Anyway, let's get back to the subject of this post.

Before I made the purchase, I looked into reviews online. There weren't that many. Basically, I ended up reading a lot of two separate reviews: one on Laguna bronzing powder and the other on Ita kabuki brush. Whilst it's £11.50 more expensive (£39/10g) than the usual Laguna (£27.50/8g), Tahiti bronzer contains 2g more product and ultimately, it comes with one of Nars' best-selling brushes, Ita kabuki brush. The  few existing posts on Tahiti bronzer that I read included mixed reviews. Mostly there were positive about the Laguna bronzer itself (which is no-brainer, really) but either negative or unsure about Ita brush. I was quite worried and this did delay the purchase a couple of days but eventually I gave it a go and I am happy that I did.

Unlike the negative reviews, the mini Ita kabuki brush included in Tahiti bronzer is actually a decent size and fits my cheekbone perfectly. I don't own the full size version of the brush but the bristles ARE very soft. As I am very happy with the mini Ita kabuki, I don't think I will go for the full size but you never say never...

There is no need to explain the quality of the actual bronzing powder. It is one of the most loved product by Nars and it is the one which made Nars so famous. My skin is a little tanned (very close to my summer shade) and I think it gives me a perfect sun-kissed look which I am very happy about. It it not a matte bronzer; rather, it has a very subtle satin finish and I can wear it as both bronzer AND contour powder.

I am so glad that I got this because my Benefit Hoola bronzer which I used to use to contour my face is almost out and for the longest time, I was searching for a substitute. Contouring is the "thing" right now and there are just too many choices available in the market. This means that it will take (maybe) forever for me to saturate all the reviews and find THE one for me. I will let you know when the day arrives. ;-)

The only thing that I am a little concerned about is its packaging. I know many people like Nars' matte black packaging but not me. I am not sure if I am the only person but I find that their packaging always goes funky after a couple of travelling (the matte part comes off) and I did hear that Laguna bronzer breaks easily. Additionally, the packaging of Tahiti bronzer is a lot bigger than the usual Nars' blusher case (130*77*20mm), which means that it isn't exactly travel-friedly.

Nevertheless, it comes with the mini Ita brush which means so maybe I will take it with me on my next holiday. A perfect bronzing/contour powder which comes with a perfect brush, YES YES YES!
I can't wait until the weather gets better and rock this bronzer.

Have you tried Nars Tahiti (or Laguna) bronzer?

Kyra x
